Oboxmedia takes flight with Rovio

The Montreal-based media company has become the Canadian rep for Rovio's roster of mobile apps, including Angry Birds.

Montreal-based media company Oboxmedia has signed on as the Canadian representative of Angry Birds creator Rovio Entertainment.

According to Oboxmedia, the app plays over 20 million pre-roll video impressions a month in Canada, and has more than three million active users.

The Finnish company launched Angry Bird in 2009 and since then it has been downloaded 2.8 billion times worldwide, making it the most downloaded mobile game ever.

Oboxmedia has offices in both Montreal and Toronto, as well as an average of 15 million unique monthly visitors to its site, according to comScore numbers provided by Oboxmedia.

A range of new Angry Birds apps is set to launch this year and a feature film is set for a summer 2016 release.
