The Kolar City Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to act tough against traders without commercial licence or those who have not renewed the licence to carry out their business.

The urban local body will collect fine from such defaulting traders, CMC president B.M. Mubarak said.

There are 5,090 commercial shops under CMC jurisdiction of which only 361 shops have commercial licence, Mr. Mubarak said. A deadline of March-end was given to the traders for renewal of licence. But most of them have failed to comply with the CMC direction. A fine of Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 will be imposed on them, he explained.
