Look who's making a Sandalwood debut
He speaks Tulu at home, but actor Rahul Madhav is more Malayali than anything else. This second-generation Udupi Brahmin, who has lived all his life in Kerala, and has been working in Mollywood and Kollywood films, is now looking at making a connect closer to his roots.
The young actor is all set to make his Kannada film debut with Suman Kittur’s upcoming Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu, which is based on a story by the late Poornachandra Tejaswi.
The film — which has Shwetha Srivastav in the lead and actresses like Sukrutha Wagle, Sonu Gowda and Karunya Ram, among others, in supporting roles — is, by all accounts, heroine-centric. Why, then, did Rahul sign up for it? “Frankly, being lead hero is not important. From my own experience, I know that I have had better success with smaller, more impactful roles. And that is what I am looking forward to with Suman’s film. That, and the fact that it would mean working with a very sensible team was what drew me to Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu,” says Rahul, who will start shooting for the film by mid May.
