South Korea says it’s positively considering supporting a proposed walk across the demilitarized zone between the two Koreas by prominent women including Gloria Steinem in what is planned as a call for the reunification of the two countries.

A spokesman from Seoul’s government said it plans to approve the May 24 walk if it confirms North Korea’s official support for the event. Organizers of the effort called WomenCrossDMZ.org have earlier said they have received permission from Pyongyang.

The women also need the approval of the United Nations Command at the DMZ. A spokesman from the U.N. Command said it usually approves civilian crossings when they are supported by both Koreas.
