Stress on protection of green cover, water resources

On the eve of the 45th Earth Day, a workshop on the theme ‘Green Earth Day’ was conducted by Green Environment Service Society and the A. P. Pollution Control Board at Public Library, Dwarakanagar, on Tuesday.

The guests for the workshop were G.S.N. Raju, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Sriram Murthy, Senior Environmental Engineer, Retd. Prof. S. Ramakrishna Rao, and Prof. Manjulatha of Zoology Department, AU.

Addressing the gathering, the guests reiterated the need for protection of green cover to increase the oxygen levels in the atmosphere. They stressed on the importance of protecting water resources to save marine life.

On the occasion, the participants of the drawing competition were given certificates and the winners of the competition were presented with mementos by the guests.

President of Green Environment Service Society V.V. Sirisha and others were present. As part of the Earth Day awareness campaign, a photo exhibition will be held at RK Beach bus stop at 6 a.m. by Green Environment Service Society and APPCB.

Green Walk

On Monday evening, displaying posters that carry a message, members of Green Environment Service Society organised ‘Green Earth Day Walk’ from YMCA to the bus stop near Beach Road as part of its five-day massive awareness drive to mark 45th anniversary of Earth Day.
