Seminar on Rajkumar from Friday

The Central University of Karnataka and Rangayana, Kalaburagi, will jointly host a two-day national seminar on “Dr Rajkumar: Indian Theatre and Cinema” from Friday at S.M. Pandit Rangamandira in Kalaburagi.

Head of the Department of English in the Central University of Karnataka Basavaraj P. Donur has said that Minister of State for Kannada and Culture Umashree will inaugurate the seminar on Friday.

The former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Chandrasekhar Patil, the Chief Executive Officer of the Roerich and Devikarani Estate Board Manu Baligar and Director of the Kalaburagi Rangayana R.K. Hudgi will participate in the inaugural function which would be presided over by Vice-Chancellor of the varsity H.C. Maheshwaraiah.

Prof. Patil will deliver the keynote address. Speakers, including Gudihalli Nagaraj, Prakash Garuda, H.S. Govindgouda, V.B. Tharakeshwar, Nikhila H., Rajendra Chenni, Basu Bevinagidad, Mahendra M., Basavaraj Kalgudi, Rahmath Tarikere, Rajshekhar Mathapati and Rajanna Taggi will deliver lectures on the various facets of Dr. Rajkumar’s life and his contribution to the Indian and Kannada cinema.

One of the features of the seminar will be the screening of a documentary on Dr. Rajkumar consisting of select scenes from some of his movies.
