Protesting the anti-people policies of both the Central and State governments, the CPI plans to undertake ‘jail bharo’ programme on May 14, said party senior leader Chada Venkat Reddy.

Mr. Reddy, district CPI secretary T. Srinivasa Rao and others said the BJP-led NDA government is not honouring the labour laws which consequently are resulting in workers losing their jobs. The BILT unit in Mangapet in Warangal was closed for over one year rendering about 3,000 employees jobless. The Central government is also bringing a new land bill which only aims at helping the corporate companies at the cost of interests of farmers in the country.

The Modi government should listen to the argument of Opposition parties and review the land bill. Ultimate goal of all parties is welfare of majority of people, Mr. Reddy said. Referring to the governance in the Telangana, the CPI leaders said the ruling TRS party failed to make any impact on bureaucracy or people since assuming power. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is not serious in implementing promises. The State government called for an all-party meeting two times in December and issued GOs 58 and 59. Mr. Rao said he will ensure issuance of rights to people who occupied land and are residing there. It remains on paper till date, he said. The forest officials in Khammam and Warangal districts are harassing and torturing innocent tribals, accusing them of occupying forest land. The tribals are being driven away, cases are being registered against them and are physically manhandled. What is the meaning of Telangana to tribals if the State government remains a mute spectator to the violence against tribals, the CPI leader sought to know. The Left parties would be holding a roundtable on land laws, reforms and tribal issues soon. Tribal people occupying and farming forest land should be given rights, the CPI demanded.
