The Fiber Net would be implemented across the State in next two and a half years, according to Chief Secretary I.Y.R Krishna Rao.
Addressing a review meeting here on Tuesday, the chief secretary said that the Fiber Net would be available with a minimum Bandwidth of 10 Mbps for households at the district headquarters. All educational institutions, health institutions, skill development institutions may be provided the net connection free of cost. A consultant should be appointed by the end of April to look into this matter, he said.
The PPP partner/Joint Venture (JV) partner for both (infrastructure and digital corporations) entities would be selected on a competitive bid process.
Tariffs for both bulk and end-user would be decided by Fiber Corp subject to TRAI Regulations, he said.
Vision and scope, technology, business model and implementation strategy of Fiber Net was discussed in the meeting.
Information Technology Advisor J. Satyanarayana, IT Secretary B. Sreedhar and representatives of I.T. industry participated in the meeting.
