North Carolina unveils new uniforms

North Carolina unveiled snazzy new uniforms to refresh its brand, with the traditional Carolina blue taking center stage across all sports.

What does it all mean? The Carolina blue will be the same shade everywhere you see it, giving the program the consistency it has wanted. The interlocking NC logo also has been streamlined and the argyle pattern has been adopted as a secondary identity.

You can see the pattern in the collar of the new football uniforms, along the side of the pants, and along the top of the helmet.

“I think the main goal was to build on our tradition, and then come up with something that is exciting for recruits and current student athletes, and then gain some consistency across all of our sports and across the university,” North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham told the Raleigh News & Observer. “It's really hard trying to get the same Carolina blue on all kinds of different product -- whether it's a paper product or clothing product or helmet.”

Carolina blue is the traditional way to go, of course, but the white uniform is really sharp. Take a look at receiver Ryan Switzer modeling the look.
