Lumia 920 owners can’t go back to Windows Phone 8.1

Microsoft has recently decided to pull the Windows 10 preview build 10051 for Lumia 520 because of issues that blocked many devices from downgrading to Windows Phone 8.1, but it turns out that more models are unable to go back to the previous OS version because of various errors.

This time, user reports point to Lumia 920, one of the handsets that received the Windows 10 preview update earlier this month and which is reportedly unable to downgrade to Windows Phone 8.1.

When users are attempting to roll back to WP8.1 with the Windows Phone Recovery Tool they are provided with an error saying that “Package not available for this phone,” and for the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any workaround available to bypass this.

The number of posts revealing such issues is growing every day and although it still doesn’t seem to be as widespread as the Lumia 520 bug, there’s no doubt that Microsoft must have a look at this one too.

For the moment, the Windows 10 preview build 10051 continues to be available for Lumia 920 and is expected to be re-released for Lumia 520 sometime today, as the company managed to fix the previous bug that made it pull the update.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft for more details on the Lumia 920 bug and will update the article when we get an answer.
