Physics plays spoil sport in engineering entrance test

The medical entrance exam will be held on April 22

KOZHIKODE: Day one of the Kerala Engineering and Medical Entrance Examination 2015 (KEAM 2015) that began on Monday evoked a mixed response from thousands of engineering aspirants in the state.

The entrance examination conducted by the commissioner for entrance examinations registered 1, 27,000 students from around the state including the students from Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai.

While a rather long and tough physics section took a good part of the total two and a half hour examination, the chemistry questions were right out of the syllabus — this was the opinion of most students who took the CEE. Faculty from coaching centers in the city said that the physics section was a little harder when compared to the previous year’s paper.

Talking to this newspaper, Athul P., a student of KR Higher Secondary School, Vatakara said, “Tensions were high as soon as the question paper was received. Physics was the first section that was not only tough but also confusing. The questions were put in a tricky way which took a long time to understand.”

However, for Keerthana K., a student of Parapanagadi HSS, it was an easy ride as she followed the prescribed textbooks while preparing for the exam.

Paper-II (Mathematics) will be held on Tuesday from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The medical entrance exam will be held on April 22. A total of 1,15,000 students will be appearing for the examination in around 350 centers in the state.
