Swami Goud gets HC notice

April 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Justice A.V. Sesha Sai of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday ordered notices in a case challenging the order of K. Swami Goud, Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council, declaring that the Telugu Desam Party had merged with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi with reference to a dispute in the House. The case was filed by A. Narsa Reddy, leader of the TDP in the Legislative Council.

While a petition was filed before Mr. Goud seeking disqualification of five TDP MLCs – B. Venkatesw-arlu, P. Narender Reddy, Gangadhara Goud, Lakshmi Narayana and Mohammad Saleem – who crossed over to TRS, the Chairman, responding to a communication from these MLCs, declared that the TDP had merged with the TRS.

This was challenged by Narsa Reddy in this writ petition. He contended that when the petition for disqualification was pending, such an order could not be passed. The judge ordered notices and posted the matter to June for arguments.
