The continued question of “how low will the US domestic hot dipped galvanized spot market go” has yet to receive an official answer. Prices are mostly steady since our last report a week ago, with the average transaction range for base-price HDG sustaining at approximately $28.00-$30.00 cwt. ($617-$662/mt or $560-$600/nt) ex-Midwest mill. Sources close to SteelOrbis, however, say there may still be some “wiggle room” when it comes to actual transaction pricing based on the tonnage a customer is looking to book.
