The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to look into the issue of widening of the Ghatkopar-Andheri road along with other roads in the vicinity and find a solution in this matter.
For completing the acquisition for constructing the Ghatkopar-Andheri road, demolition of illegal structures was supposed to be carried out and people living along the way were supposed to be shifted to an alternate site. This has not happened till now. The railway bridge falling in the way is also supposed to be widened.

“Neither BMC nor Railways can dispute that the roads in question are congested, so steps need to be taken for widening of the roads. We direct the BMC Commissioner to nominate an officer not below the rank of deputy commissioner to look into the matter,” said Justices A S Oka and C V Badang. The deputy commissioner has been asked to file an affidavit by June 26. The case will be heard on July 2.
