INDORE: For some, birthday bash is not about gifts and glitter. In fact, they share special day with children of lesser gods at orphanages.
Asha Singh of Navdeep Child Welfare, an NGO, said, “Our organization has been working for more than 30 years, but for last three youngsters have been contacting us and taking permission from us to make their day memorable in our orphanage and not just birthdays, they arrive on Valentine’s Day, Children’s Day with cakes and presents to make their day memorable.”
When we talked to some young people, here’s how they responded.
Ashu Gupta said, “I celebrated my birthday at an orphanage. It is truly a heavenly experience.” For Narendra Chaudhary, the best birthday gift for him is a smile on children’s face and it makes him happy.” Though it’s a small gesture, it gives him immense pleasure to share moment of joy with orphans.
And so says Prateek Yaduwanshi, a student of DAVV. We are blessed because god has given us parents. “About those who have nobody and have live life of orphans. “The way I see it, Indoreans are now realizing the fact that a child’s smile is worth more than a thousand parties,” he added.
