Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today dedicated development works worth Rs. 390 crore in Gujarat’s second largest and fastest growing city Surat.
On this occasion she said that the state government plans development projects for cities considering its population in year 2030. She said the project we are implementing will be able to cover even 60% additional population compared to present population.
Anandiben took a note of the fact that Surat has plenty of bridges but added that the problem of traffic will find solution only through proper use of mass transportation.
It should be mentioned that Surat has poor record of using existing route of BRTS. People mostly prefer to use rickshaws or their own vehicles, but don’t use BRTS.
The development work of SMC, inaugurated today by the CM includes BRTS route of 20 KMs, Sewage Pumping Station, extension of drainage lines, water distribution station, solid waste management, solar power plant of 540 KW and foot over-bridge, among others.
Anandiben asked citizens to look at the cities of developed countries in order to find out what is missing in our cities here.
The CM spoke of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s appeal to not take the gas subsidy. She spoke about recently opened water supply projects, addition of dental and plastic surgery in government healthcare schemes for children.
The event was attended by Education Minister Shri Nanubhai Vanani, Chief Whip Shri Ajaybhai Choksi, Mayor Shri Niranjanbhai Zanzmera, GHB Chairman, MLAs, office bearers of Surat Municipal Corporation, other dignitaries and citizens in large number.
