Siam Commercial Bank held a special "SCB Investment Symposium 2015: The World Ahead" featuring the country's most prominent economic gurus, who provided in-depth analysis and updates on key economic data and situations around the world that could impact Thailand's economy. The symposium provided participating clients and investors with complete information on economic, financial market, and capital market platforms and policies from policy makers to ensure that they will be able to deal with opportunities and challenges and make efficient investment plans. SCB President Mr. Yol Phokasub said the Thai economy in 2015 was likely to recover from the previous year as many economic think tanks forecast the economy will grow about 3%. There remain several other factors influencing Thailand's economic growth that need to be closely monitored, particularly external factors from the previous year. Included are the stronger growth of the US economy as reflected by the continued recovery of the labor market, a forecast economic slowdown in Europe, international political risk related to tensions in Russia and Ukraine, tepid economic growth in Japan, and economic sluggishness in emerging markets such as China and India. However, Mr. Yol noted that the continued decline in global oil prices would hasten economic recovery thanks to lower production costs and reduced costs of living. The government's budget disbursement acceleration for the development of basic infrastructure projects would also propel economic growth. Realizing that changing internal and external factors will affect economic growth policy, market conditions, capital inflow and outflow, and planning by business and household sectors, SCB arranged the 'SCB Investment Symposium 2015: The World Ahead' event to provide its clients, investors, and other interested persons with knowledge and useful information. Top regulators of the country's economic, financial, and capital market policies honored SCB by agreeing to be guest speakers, including:
  • Deputy Prime Minister M.R. Pridiyathorn Devekul, who gave a lecture on "Thai Economic Rehabilitation Policy" to keep symposium attendees abreast of economic drivers and restructuring policies adopted by the current government.
  • Bank of Thailand Governor Dr. Prasarn Trairatvorakul, who spoke about "Thailand's Monetary System and Global Change" to clarify the adoption of monetary policy to boost the country's economic recovery and supervise capital inflows and outflows that impact the baht movement.
  • Stock Exchange of Thailand President Mrs. Kesara Manchusri, who lectured on "Thai Stock Market Direction and Global Investment Trends" to present market perspectives for alternative investment by local and foreign investors, and the benefits and opportunities obtained from ASEAN exchange for connecting the Thai capital market with the regional market.
Top regulators of the country's economic, financial, and capital market policies honored SCB by agreeing to be guest speakers, including: "We are confident the information and knowledge obtained from the perspectives of our guest speakers, who have a true understanding of both local and overseas economic fundamentals, will enable clients, investors, and interested persons attending the symposium to formulate investment plans in a timely manner and gain returns and wealth from their personal investments. They will also be in a better position to earn profits from business performance as they can develop competitive business strategies suitable for the international arena. We are ready to provide advice and services, and introduce investment products for all client segments in a comprehensive manner," said Mr. Yol.
