Will Duniya Vijay still set a record?

One year after shooting the `one-shot' film, the team of his movie Daksha still hopes to be in the `record book' soon
Will Duniya Vijay still set a record?
A year after a high-profile shooting schedule for the film Daksha, the crew is all set to announce its release. The film brought together veteran director S Narayan and action star Duniya Vijay after a public spat that happened in 2008. Their comeback vehicle Daksha made more noise for its attempt at creating a Guinness record. The 140-minute flick was said to be filmed in a single continuous shot.
The shooting took place on April 17, 2004 in Hebbal.
The film and its shooting created a lot of buzz around it. The crew announced that Guinness authorities had been contacted and they would be present to take note of the attempt. During the same time, another filmmaker Gunavanta Manju had also announced Namaste India, a 130-minute flick, which was to be shot in a single take. They also applied for a Guinness record. Malayalam film Agadham and a Russian film Ark had already made successful attempts. Namaste India is yet to hear from the Guinness authorities though.A similar fate seems to have befallen Daksha.
The film was shot in a single take of 140-minute duration, but in the third attempt. But that is not the problem. Sources say a team of scamsters is working across film industries in India, wooing them with the prospects of Guinness feats.Though it is a simple enough process to approach the real Guinness officials (there is a resident official of the organisation in India), filmmakers go through touts, who would vanish soon after collecting the money and on-spot inspection. It's not clear how much money the alleged touts made away with. The filmmakers are left with no official record or someone to blame.
The makers of Daksha are now saying that they have submitted the Censor Certificate of the film to the Guinnesse authorities. But it is surprising as the certificate does not specify if the film was canned in one shot or thousands. There have been films and film personalities who have made Guinness records in Kannada. Director Baraguru Ramachandrappa has his name in the record book for directing a film with only one artiste; Shanti. Kishan entered the record book as the youngest director of a feature film with Co Footpath. Namaste India and Daksha are likely to remain as `Guinnesse wannabes'.
