KWALUSENI – Experienced player Allen Mathonsi led the Correctional Services tennis team to the Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Tennis League title.

The team was crowned yesterday at the Grand Closing ceremony at Kwaluseni Campus courts after they secured all points against rivals Police College in both the singles and doubles, to also condemn them to third spot after second-placed Lobamba. Lobamba took second in the last game of the season by getting victory against RSSC.

It was a day of dominance by Correctional, whose players defeated all Police College opponents.
Correctional took home E12 000, a floating trophy and gold medals, while Lobamba got silver and E8 000, and E5 000 and bronze medals went to Police College.

Swaziland National Tennis Association (SNTA) President Martin Gamedze and SBS Managing Director (MD) Timothy Nhleko oversaw the crowning and congratulated the winners.
Meanwhile, Mathonsi, Correctional captain, said hard work did it for them.

“We would like to first thank the department for allowing us to form the team and believe that we can move it forward. We were mandated to give it our all to get it all and that is what we did. I also thank the players for their commitment as we started preparing before the league started and that has paid off.”

Mathonsi said their ambition was to be the team to beat in the country and produce national team players who would go on to represent the country well.
The league had been sponsored to the tune of E60 000.
