KOHAT: The tripartite alliance of opposition parties has alleged that MPAs of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are flouting the ban imposed on their political activities in view of the local government elections despite clear orders issued in this regard by the chief election commissioner.
The spokesman for the alliance, JUI-F district secretary general Jameel Ahmed Paracha also accused the district administration of ignoring such anomalies and demanded quick action on their applications which had been submitted to the officials concerned.
He said that they had proofs against the MPAs and administration which would be presented to the commissioner, Kohat, and the chief election commissioner soon.
A senior member of the tripartite alliance and ANP district president Javed Khattak told Dawn on Saturday that they had written to the chief secretary, secretary local government, commissioner Kohat and deputy commissioner for vacating the bungalow of chief municipal officer in the TMA building which had been occupied by a PTI lawmaker. He alleged that PTI had also set up its election office in the bungalow.
Mr Khattak said that the deputy commissioner had promised that the PTI office would be shifted to another place, but he seemed to be helpless before the ruling party. He also demanded ban on public meetings of PTI MPAs, especially Ziaullah Bangash who had been announcing funds for street pavements and water pumps in the city.
The alliance member said that the divisional administration had failed to stop the ruling party MPAs from attending public functions and making surprise visits to the hospitals and schools.
