Irate relatives of a 25-year-old youth undergoing treatment for snake bite at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) on Tuesday blocked traffic on the Tindivanam Road and damaged glass window panes in the Casualty Block alleging delay in treatment.
Police sources said A. Ashok of Sanjeevi Nagar in Alankuppam was bitten by a poisonous snake near his house on Sunday.
Neighbours rushed him to JIPMER and Ashok was admitted in the Casualty ward. Relatives alleged that doctors refused to provide any information about his health condition.
Suspecting that something was amiss a section of them blocked vehicular traffic on the Tindivanam road and damaged glass window panes in the Casualty block.
Senior police officials pacified the agitators following which they withdrew their protest. Doctors attending on Ashok said that his condition was stable and he was responding to treatment.
