Pelicans' Tyreke Evans 'felt a little pop' in knee, set for MRI

NBA, Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Tyreke Evans was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam on his left knee Saturday after banging knees with Golden State's Andre Iguodala and suffering a contusion that knocked him out of Game 1 of the team's first-round series.

After the game, without yet knowing the full extent of the injury, Evans said he "felt a little pop, felt a little snap" in the knee in the wake of the first-half collision with Iguodala.

"I never felt nothing like that before," Evans told ESPN.com of the sharp pain.

Evans went on to note that it's the knee he relies on to jump off but did manage to leave the Pelicans' locker room without the need for crutches and under his own power.

It's just the latest injury concern in the backcourt for the Pelicans, who recently reactivated former All-Star guard Jrue Holiday but have him on what they're terming a "soft" minutes restriction.

Holiday logged 21 minutes off the bench in a 106-99 Game 1 loss for the Pelicans, who hope to gradually increase his playing time as the series continues. Game 2 is Monday night at Oracle Arena.

"I'm not sure about Tyreke just yet," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "We've dealt with this all year. We'll see where he is tomorrow and then make adjustments."
