JAMMU, Apr 18: MCA and Geography Departments got better of their rivals to advance in to next round of the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, being organized by the University of Jammu at Varsity grounds, here today.
In the first match, Geography Department defeated Political Science Department by 48 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, Geography Department scored 145 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Atish top scored with 41 runs, while Pankaj contributed 24 runs to the total. Zain took 2 wickets for Political Science Department.
In reply, Political Science Department was bundled out for a paltry total of 97 runs to lose the match by 48 runs. Narinder and Farooq contributed 18 and 13 runs to the total respectively. Pankaj took 2 wickets for Geography Department.
In another match, MCA Department got better of History Department by a narrow margin of 9 runs. MCA scored 108 runs in 20 overs, with Vijay top scoring with 36 runs and Suraj contributing 20 runs to the total. Prince took 3 wickets for History and Arvind claimed 2.
In reply, History Department managed to score 99 runs in the stipulated overs to lose the match by 9 runs. Arvind top scored with 22 runs and Yogeshwar contributed 20 runs to the total. Atul claimed 2 wickets for MCA, while Vijay, Koushal and Suraj claimed one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Singh, Pankaj Sasun, Manu Khajuria, Raj Kumar Bakshi and Shivam.
