Sex test: 3-year rigorous imprisonment for Bikaner female doctor

A female doctor has been sentenced to three years' rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a cash fine of Rs 10,000 for violating the provisions of PCPNDT Act, 1994 here on Saturday.

BIKANER: A female doctor has been sentenced to three years' rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a cash fine of Rs 10,000 for violating the provisions of PCPNDT Act, 1994 here on Saturday.
CMHO Dr Devendra Choudhary said the court of Special ACJM (PCPNDT Cases), Bikaner, while announcing the decision in a four-year-old case, on Saturday sent Dr Iti Mathur, owner of Mathur Ultrasound and Mathur Hospital & Research Centre, Bikaner, to three years' RI under Section 23 of PCPNDT Act, 1994 for violating various sections and rules of the Act of 1994.

On December 3, 2011, a team of health officials conducted a surprise inspection at Dr Mathur's centres and found grave anomalies. Sonography records were not maintained and in several cases, forms of patients were not filled up properly. Also, renewal of centre's registration was also not done.
