Mob fury after minibus crushes woman near RBI

BHOPAL: A 37-year-old woman riding a moped with earphones, was crushed by reckless minibus near RBI on Hoshangabad Road on Friday. The dead identified as Priyanka Mamtani, was a resident of New Subhash Nagar. She was returning home from MP Nagar and was riding the two-wheeler without helmet and had her face covered with a piece of cloth, police said.
The two-wheeler was hit from behind by a transport bus, having registration number MP04 CA 3763.She sustained fatal injuries. Later, an ambulance from emergency service rushed to the spot and took her to JP Hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Doctors said that she died on the spot.
Mob vandalized bus. Bus driver, cleaner and conductor managed to escape from the spot. Police sources said all three had been detained and they were interrogated.
The accident led to a traffic jam on busy road for almost half an hour as mob created ruckus on the road. Later, a heavy police force was sent to the spot and the situation was brought under control.
Investigation officer YS Majhi said a case under Section of 304 (A) of the IPC was registered and investigation was on. “She might be listening to music or talking to someone over phone as earphones were found plugged in her ears,” Majhi said.
