As part of the Samajik Samrasta Karyakram (social equality campaign) that BJP launched Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14, BJP’s Varanasi unit has launched a drive to give financial help to boatmen, and rickshaw and cart pullers, who mostly are Dalits or belong to backward castes.

The aid is meant to help them repair their boats, rickshaws and carts. To dole out the financial assistance, BJP has opened camps at Assi Ghat and Cutting Memorial ground where more than 200 boatmen, rickshaw pullers and cart pullers had registered themselves in the first three days.
