Two killed in accident

Two persons were run over by a KSRTC bus near Debur village on the Nanjangud-Sargur Road on Friday.

The victims were identified as Shivakumar (37) and Rangaswamy (33) of the village and were daily wagers.

The accident took place at dawn when the two were walking towards the fields.

Consequent to the death of the two persons, locals assembled in large numbers and blocked the road for nearly two hours seeking compensation for the family.

Senior police officers, including Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare and KSRTC officials, reached the spot and appealed to the local people to maintain calm. R.

Dhruvanarayan, MP, also visited the spot and promised to take up the issue with the Transport Minister for compensation.

The bus driver has been taken into custody and Nanjangud police have registered a case and are investigating.
