The Forest Department is organising a six-day mega expo, Kanana Sangamam 2015, to showcase the livelihood, art, and culture of about 35 tribes who live in forests. Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told reporters here on Tuesday that the highlight of the fair, to be held at Kanakakunnu from April 17 to 22, is a folk dance programme comprising 350 artistes, all tribes, to be held at Nishagndhi on the opening day evening. The programme, Nattarivukal, choreographed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy, will be held at a 250-foot wide stage exclusively made for the performance. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the programme on April 17 evening. The programme is estimated to cost Rs.2 crore, the Minister said.
