The Australia Pacific Technical College (APTC) in Nadi held its graduation ceremony at the Novotel Hotel in Votualevu yesterday.

The ceremony started off with prayers and a special performance by villagers from Saunaka.

The 48 graduates in certificate level were applauded by chief guest, the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Jioji Konrote.

Mr Konrote commended the graduating class for their perseverance and dedication and wished them well for every success for the future.

“You have nonetheless done very well and should be relieved, but more importantly proud of what you have achieved through hard work,” he said.

“There is no substitute for hard work as the key to success in life,” Mr Konrote expressed to the crowd present. Let us be mindful and acknowledge with gratitude and appreciation the contribution of the Australian Government.

The Minister also gave special tribute to the parents, spouse and guardians for their encouragement, guidance, support and assistance towards the graduates.

“You now have before you, the product of your hard work,” Mr Konrote told the parents present.

In relation to the increased productivity in employment, Mr Konrote commended the Technical College for its contributions.

“I would like to acknowledge APTC for its significant contributions in producing experienced and suitably qualified personnel’s.”

He reiterated the Ministry’s core responsibility which is to pursue the attainment of decent employment standards through the promotion of employment opportunities.

“The role and responsibility of the Ministry are designed and formulated to promote and enhance the successful attainment of the Ministry’s vision,” he said.

“The graduates mark another important milestone in our collective effort in improving the level of Productivity in the work places they are returning to.”

Technical College chief executive officer Denise O’Brien congratulated the graduates for their achievements.

“We know that for many, you needed to leave your place of work, your family and community for a period of time in order to under-take your studies,” he said.

“We thank your employers and families who have supported you through this time. We trust that you have not only acquired the skills and knowledge to equip you well for employment but that you leave this training experience with new professional friendships.

“We trust that this is just the beginning and that you continue to strive to be the very best you can be in your chosen work.”

Also present at the graduation ceremony was Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Iliesa Delana.

Students graduated in certificate level courses in carpentry, early childhood education and care, hospitality, engineering, tourism, disability, training and assessment and youth work.
