Willard wins Burlington town moderator post

Sally Willard edged Phillip Gallagher by 10 votes in the race for town moderator at Burlington’s April 11 annual town election. Willard, a longtime town meeting member, picked up 973 votes to 963 for Gallagher, a former town moderator and current library trustee. Willard, who has also chaired the Land Use Committee, succeeds Charles A. Murphy, who did not seek reelection. In other contests, Carol A. Perna outpaced Jeffrey N. Pearsons by 982 to 843 votes in the race to fill the remainder of a term on the Planning Board. Incumbent Elizabeth Walendziewicz and David B. McSweeney won a three-way race for two seats on the Board of Health, defeating Jaclynn K. Sulfaro. Walendziewicz had 1,206 votes and McSweeney 990, while Sulfaro garnered 755.
