Man who led Valmiki protest against Azam likely to get BSP ticket

Tanveer was released after spending five days in prison on charges of breach of peace over the Valmiki colony demolition matter.

Tanveer Ahmed Khan, who was released after spending five days in prison on charges of breach of peace over the Valmiki colony demolition matter, will reportedly be fielded by BSP against urban development minister Azam Khan in 2017 assembly elections.

BSP’s national general secretary Naseemuddin Siddiqui will be addressing a workers’ meeting in Rampur on April 30 where he will formally announce the candidature of Tanveer from the Rampur seat.

“My agenda remains fighting against the tyranny of Azam Khan. He has destroyed every possible industry in Rampur. People are now fed up of him and I will take up their cause,” Tanveer said. He confirmed that Siddiqui is coming to Rampur on April 30 and a workers’ meeting will be held near the Gandhi Samadhi in Rampur. “Siddiqui will formally announce my candidature as it has been finalised by party president Mayawati,” he claimed.
