Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment have set TriStar’s faith-based drama “War Room” to open their Bentonville Film Festival on May 5. Universal’s comedy “Pitch Perfect 2” close the festival May 9.

“War Room,” which focuses on the transformational role that prayer can play in an individual’s life, is directed by Alex Kendrick from a script he co-wrote with brother Stephen Kendrick. The film stars Alex Kendrick, Priscilla Shirer (“Praise the Lord”), T.C. Stallings (“Courageous”), Beth Moore (“Living Proof Ministries”) and Karen Abercrombie (“Remnant”).

“War Room” will open in theaters on Aug. 28.

“Pitch Perfect 2” is directed by Elizabeth Banks and features the returning cast led by Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp and Banks herself. The film will open May 15.

Davis announced the event in January with the aim of highlighting diversity. The Arkansas festival is touting itself as the only film competition in the world to offer guaranteed theatrical, TV, digital and retail home entertainment distribution for its winners.
