Two books of prominent Canada based NRI poet Mr Mohan Gill, who is also Patron of Punjabi Sahit Akademi Ludhiana and General Secretary of Canada wing of Sabhyacharak Satth Punjab, were released at Govind National College, Narangwal (Ludhiana) today. The books are titled “Atam Manthan” and “Namkeen Rasgulle” and were released by former president of Punjabi Sahit Akademi Prof Gurbhajan Gill. While speaking on the occasion, Prof Gurbhajan Gill said that literature plays a prominent role in shaping the lives of today’s youth, which has fallen prey to social evils such as vulgar songs, drugs, besides others. He said that “Atam Manthan” is a book written in simple Punjabi language and can help the youth in finding the right path.
Recalling his association with Mr Mohan Gill, Prof Gurbhajan Gill said that he was his classmate of MA (Punjabi) and till date, he has penned eight different books in Punjabi and is also an active member of Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Canada for the last many years. Besides this, Mr Mohan Gill has also played an important role in editing documents related to the Gadar Party Lehar and Kamagatamaru incident. Govind National College Principal Dr Hardaljit Singh Gosal said that it is a matter of great pride that Mr Mohan Gill is ex student of their college and has chosen this institution to release his two books.
Mr Mohan Gill shared about his old association with Govind National College, Narangwal, which played an important role in his life. He said that it was here that he started writing poetry and has now managed to pen eight books despite living in Canada for the last several decades. Prominent among those present during the function included Mr Harnek Singh Gill, Prof Kulwant Singh, Prof Gurpreet Singh, Mr Jasmer Singh Dhatt, chairman, Sabhyacharak Sathh Punjab, Mr Rustam Singh Gill from Canada, Mrs Ravinder Kaur Gill, Dr Balwinder Singh Buthari, Mr Jagdev Singh Grewal, ex Sarpanch of village Jodhan, Mr Faqir Chand Sharma, Mr Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, Prof Avinash Kaur, besides several others.
