Techie offered a lift, robbed of Rs 1.5L in Pune
Pune, April 17: A software engineer from Pune was robbed of Rs 1.5 lakhs when four men in a car robbed him off Rs 1.5 lakh on the pretext of giving him a lift home.
34 year old Ravi Shankar Gopal had missed the office cab and was waiting for a bus when a stranger offered him to drop close to his home at Vishalnagar in Mulshi Taluka.
Unaware of the looming danger, Gopal got into the car seeing that another man was sitting on the rear side. On their way, the man picked up two more men.
"The car sped towards Marunji Road.The persons sitting next to Gopal all of a sudden threatened him with a sharp weapon.When Gopal tried to raise an alarm, they threatened to kill him," said the assistant inspector of the Hinjewadi police station, Jagdale.
He further added that Gopal was frisked and all the cash on him was taken. He was then forced to give the ATM pin number of his debit card.
Gopal was then pushed out of the car Kaspte Chowk in Wakad and fled. However, before fleeing they threatened Gopal not to inform the police. But he went to Hinjewadi police station to report the theft the very next day. Unfortunately, he was so shocked that he could not provide the details of his card numbers and the registration number of the car.
