SIMI had big plans for South India

New Delhi, April 17: The killing of two SIMI activists in Nalgonda and the investigations that followed reveal that a major plan to revive their activities in South India.

The SIMI according to the National Investigation which has been on revival mode was planning setting up of cells in the four states of South India.

They were constantly moving around the border areas as they found it easier to escape between states, an NIA official also informed OneIndia.

Reviving SIMI operations in South India

The two SIMI activists who were shot down in Nalgonda were part of the same gang of five which had broken out of the Khandwa jail in Madhya Pradesh in October 2013.

During the investigations it was found that they had purchased tickets to Vijayawada. This led to the investigators picking up 15 members allegedly linked to the SIMI for questioning.

After questioning the investigators let off 11 members but still continues to question the remaining four.

What has been found is that Vijayawada was being converted into a safe haven for SIMI activities, an officer associated with the probe informed.

While there were incidents of robberies reported in Karimnagar by the SIMI, they have also been blamed for conducted a camp at Aluva and also carrying out both the Chennai train and Bengaluru Church Street blasts.

Moving along the border

It has also been found that these SIMI activists after carrying out the Chennai train blast had moved into the border area of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Investigations by the NIA have revealed that these pesons had taken shelter in a place called Tada which is along the AP-Tamil Nadu border.

These members always operated along the border areas, investigations have revealed.

These operatives were found taking shelter in areas along the AP-Telangana border too.

This in fact helped them dodge the police for so long as they kept slipping into neighbouring states after the commission of an offence.

Hunt intensifies for three more SIMI members

Three more members of the SIMI are still at large. These three are the same persons who were part of the five member gang which had broken out of jail.

There is a coordinated effort on along all the border areas in South India to track down these persons.

There is also information that one of them may have fled to Delhi, Intelligence Bureau officials say.

These three men who are absconding pose a high security risk.

They are armed and dangerous. Moreover, they would try and hit back after their two friends were killed in the encounter at Nalgonda.
