7-day PCR in MCOCA case
Nagpur: Special court for trial of Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) remanded nine accused in Bharat Khatwani murder case to seven days of police custody on Thursday. Around 10 persons, including a minor, were arrested by police. MCOCA was applied after the probe was transferred to crime branch.
Special judge VT Suryavanshi sanctioned custody of the nine accused to crime branch till April 23.
The accused, including Shariff Sheikh and others, have been allegedly involved in the murder of Sitabuldi-based trader Khatwani at his shop in March this year. The probe was shifted to crime branch from Sitabuldi police station.
In another case, judge Suryavanshi granted a 70-day extension for filing charge sheet against four accused of Mohd Afroze gang, slapped with MCOCA, in a gang rape case by Hudkeshwar police. The gang had raped and robbed numbers of couples along highways. The gang is also involved in the murder of a senior citizen.
