BHOPAL: A month after a murder in Char Imli area, Habibganj police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the case. The dead, Hari Mohan Tiwari, 55, was a Class IV employee in Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM) and resided on Kolar Road.
He was found dead in bushes behind Durga petrol pump. The accused in the case is Haneef, 38, a resident of Bagh Dilkusha, who is employed as a painter.
Police said the identity of the dead was ascertained when a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Roopnarayan Pateria from Chhatarpur came to attend BJP’s working committee meet in state capital.

He apprised station house officer of Habibganj police station of his missing father-in-law and later police ascertained the man strangulated behind Durga petrol pump was Tiwari.
Officials said during interrogation it came to light that he met Haneef on the day of incident at a
country-made liquor shop close to Prabhat petrol pump. Believing that Tiwari has a lot of money with him, the accused offered him to give him a ride to house on his scooter.
His intention was to loot him since accused was in need of money. The duo purchased liquor, water, glasses and other things from a country-made liquor shop near Chetak Bridge while returning and decided to consume it in bushes at Durga petrol pump.
The accused tried to loot Hari there, but when he resisted, he strangulated him. The accused after murder found only Rs 150 cash and mobile phone, which he took away with him.
Had Hari’s family made efforts to find him immediately after he went missing, the incident would have been solved soon.
