Felt sorry when Sania stopped playing singles: Vijay Amritraj
HYDERABAD: Vijay Amritraj is not worried that the Champions Tennis League (CTL) lost Leander Paes to another professional league, IPTL, and insisted on Thursday that CTL would return bigger and better this year.
The tennis legend, who arrived for the Fed Cup AsiaOceania tournament, said that the announcement regarding the second edition of CTL will be made next month and the event will be held in December.

"I was amazed by the success of CTL. Frankly, I never thought that CTL would be so competitive. The manner in which it was received by fans and covered by the television and media was great," Amritraj said.
On Leander leaving the league, he said: "He joined IPTL that's it. And we know that he cannot play two leagues. But almost all the top players who played in CTL are eager to come back.
The good news is that more players are approaching us. We will announce the details next month. Our aim is to bring high quality international tennis to India and help our players learn from watching the top stars," he added.
He lauded Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza for taking Indian sport to a new level.
Amritraj, however, said that Sania could have achieved more success in singles. "I felt sorry when she stopped playing singles. She has a very strong mind and could have done well in singles," he said.
