CAS dismisses swimmer Amar Muralidharan's case
NEW DELHI: In one of India's first cases under individual sports category to be decided by it, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has dismissed the appeal of a national swimmer banned for dope violation.
The world's highest sports tribunal upheld the decision of the National Anti-Doping Agency and the sports ministry to penalize Amar Muralidharan, a former national champion in 200m freestyle and butterfly.

However, CAS also pulled up NADA for "excessive" delay in deciding the swimmer's plea filed after he tested positive for a banned substance in 2010.
Muralidharan had dragged the Indian sports administrators and NADA to the Switzerland-based CAS against the decisions of Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (ADDP) and Anti-Doping Appeal Panel (ADAP) of the NADA after his test sample taken during National Aquatic Championships in Jaipur in August 2010.
