Body recovered from river

The body of a 36-year-old labourer from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh was recovered on Thursday from Bhima on the outskirts of Yadgir city.

The dead was identified as Mastan Sheikh. He had gone for a swim in the river on Wednesday, according to the police.

The police said that Mastan Sheikh was working as a construction labourer in the city for the past few months. A case has been registered in Yadgir Town Police Station.

Stabbed to death

In another incident, two persons who came on a motorcycle allegedly stabbed to death a driver of a goods autorickshaw near Arkera B village in Yadgir taluk on Wednesday night. The victim was identified as Ramareddy Bhimareddy (30) of Yelheri village.

The motorcyclists took away Rs. 2,000 in cash and a mobile phone from the victim. A case has been registered in the Gurmitkal Police Station.
