After Chennai’s own Pongal book fair extravaganza, here is yet another event that will delight book lovers in the city. And this time, apart from buying books, you can even donate them.

Chennai Puthaga Sangamam, a World Book Day Festival, was inaugurated by Chitra Devi Ramiah, Consul General of Malaysia in Chennai, at the YMCA grounds Royapettah . With around 150 stalls consisting over 1 lakh books on various titles, the book fair sure has a lot to offer for the readers.

“The place is big enough for the readers to browse and buy books,” says G. Olivannan, .

This year, readers can also donate books apart from buying them, he adds. Along with a wide range of books, the organisers have arranged for book-reading sessions, cultural events and competitions for children.

“Such fairs are crowd-pullers. We sell books at discounts and invite many retailers and institutions to place bulk orders. We’re expecting higher patronage this year,” says Balaji of Sri Balaji Publications. This is the third edition of the book fair. The ten-day event will be on till April 23.
