NEW DELHI: North Delhi Municipal Corporation launched its own magazine, Nirman Darpan, in which development projects carried out since 2012 in north Delhi are highlighted. To start with, 1,000 copies of the magazine have been printed using the corporation’s funds (Rs 1 lakh) and these will be distributed for free to RWAs listed in Residents Welfare Committee scheme. However, some of the projects featured in the magazine haven’t even begun and the fact that it was delay that ratcheted up costs has been overlooked.

“Through this magazine, they will be informed of work done till date,” Pravesh Wahi, chairman, works committee, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, said. Ironically, there is not even one project completed within deadline.
Projects like the Model Town parking lot listed as an achievement hasn’t been thrown open to the public. Then there are projects which were completed back in 2012 and 2013. Even Rani Jhansi Grade Separator that is in its 15th year in the making has been featured. “This is just a political gimmick before the 2017 municipal polls. Public funds are being used to print these magazines,” Mukesh Goel, leader of Opposition, said.
On Friday, another corporation magazine, Nigam Alok, will be launched. “Nigam Darpan is about infrastructure projects. Nigam Alok will have details of other achievements of the corporation,” mayor Yogender Chandolia said.
