Glory told the audience in Punjabi, “Punjab needs to come back to its basic roots in terms of music. Any music that you can relate to is good music, but it should be worth listening to and the lyrics should make sense.
Also, you should be able to watch the videos of these songs with your entire family.” A group of girls from DU’s Khalsa College and city-based Sufi Punjabi band, Mizzle, also performed at the mela, organized by Harinder Singh and Kirandeep Kaur.
A colourful affair
Guests were seen checking out the art exhibition, which showed the spirit of Punjab through the colourful craftsmanship of the state. The main attraction of the mela were the decorated chairs, which portrayed the welcoming culture in Punjab, a colorful doli made by students of NIFT Mohali and old chests and wooden doors with text in Gurmukhi engraved on them.
No difference between the two Punjabs
Jaya Jaitly, Alka Pande, MS Gill and RS Jaura were also spotted at the mela. Gill told us, “I just visited the old Punjab in Pakistan, and I didn’t find any difference between the two separated Punjabs. No matter how many flags we put on the border and whatever the governments of both countries keep on doing, people on both sides of the border have a relationship of more than a 1000 years.”
