PUNE: Water storage in Khadakwasla dam that supplies water to the city was recorded at 75% on Thursday. Storages in Panshet and Varasgaon were recorded at 31% and 37% respectively. Officials in the state irrigation department said that there was no live stock of water in Temghar dam.
Officials said that they were monitoring water storages in all reservoirs and were taking daily updates from local authorities on release of water for drinking purposes and agriculture activities.
"Not all dams are releasing water for agriculture purposes. Some dams are releasing water for summer crops", officials said.
Among other dams, water storage in Pavana dam was recorded at 46% of its total storage capacity. The dam supplies water to Pimpri and Chinchwad. Stock in Ujani dam has reduced to 13%. The dam supplies drinking water to Solapur city and smaller towns like Pandharpur. Water storage in Nazare was recorded at 5%. The dam supplies water to rural parts of Purandar taluka.
Officials said that a plan has been prepared to keep aside the city’s quota of water to last till July 15 in Khadakwasla dam. The city monthly requires about 1.25 TMC water. Water is supplied through a closed pipeline and a canal.
