‘Top priority to Anantapur’

Rs. 43 cr. for infrastructure development at six hospitals in district

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao on Wednesday said the government accorded top priority to the development of Anantapur district in all spheres, especially health infrastructure.

Speaking at a function at the Government General Hospital on Wednesday, the Minister said the government had allotted Rs. 43 crore for infrastructure development at six hospitals in the district (Hindupur, Chennekothapalli, Kanekal, Rayadurgam, Atmakur and Uravakonda) from the Rs. 340 crore received from NABARD for improvement of medical and health infrastructure. “A total of 71 hospitals will be developed and modernised to the extent possible across the State with NABARD funds,” Mr. Rao said, adding that the government would recruit a total of 850 doctors to government hospitals in the next two months.

At a review meeting at the GGH, Superintendent K.S.S. Venkateswara Rao requested the Minister to address staff shortage.
