Students thronged the CV Raman arena in the ongoing Vizag Fest 2015 on Wednesday to explore science subjects and different models set up there by the Jana Vignana Vedika.
Apart from many models put up by students of engineering on working plants and other systems, the Jana Vignana Vedika has been focusing on demonstrations to dispel myths and superstitions. Students were taught how to dip a hand in hot oil without injuring themselves in a bid to dispel the myth around such ‘miracles’ staged by charlatans and fake godmen to hoodwink people.
The cultural troupe of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) – Praja Natya Mandali – staged a street-play on the plight of farmers due to the confusion and delay in farm loan waiver announced by the Government. The street-play highlighted the problems faced by farmers due to the mishandling of the subject.
CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury, who was in the city to participate in the ongoing 21{+s}{+t}Congress of the party, visited the Vizag Fest and went round the stalls. He browsed the book stalls and other parts of the ongoing festival.
