TTD to publish new look ‘Pothana Bhagavatham’ soon

April 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - TIRUPATI:

‘Pothana Bhagavatham’, one of the most popular publications of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will soon see light in a refreshingly new look. The existing volumes will be revised and the new ones will be brought out by this year-end. Executive Officer D. Sambasiva Rao, while reviewing the progress of publications with members of the Editorial Board on Wednesday, advised that ‘Bhagavatham’ be brought on the lines of the ‘Kavitraya Mahabharatam’. While the present version of ‘Bhagavatham’ just has the verses and their meaning (Tatparya), it will be developed on the lines of ‘Mahabharatam’ by incorporating ‘Pratipadartha’ (word by word meaning) and ‘Visesha Vyakhyana’ (special commentary). “This will give it a rich literary look”, Dr. Rao said.

He instructed the board to complete the task on a war-footing without compromising on the quality and bring out the set of eight volumes by the year-end.

Editor-in-Chief Samudrala Lakshmanaiah, members Mudivarthi Kondamacharyulu, Appajodu Venkatasubbaiah, Salakha Raghunatha Sarma and sub-editor Narasimhacharyulu took part.
