Bryan Oviedo is set to make his return from injury at the beginning of May, Everton manager Roberto Martinez says.
The left-sided Costa Rica international, who plays either at full-back or on the wing, has been out of action for almost eight weeks because of a hamstring problem.
Oviedo suffered the injury during Everton's 4-1 Europa League round of 32 first-leg win over Young Boys in Switzerland on Feb. 19.
Martinez sees his side's Premier League home match against Sunderland on May 9 as the likeliest date for the 25-year-old's return.
The manager told Everton's official website: "I expect him to be training at the end of this week, so we are probably looking at two or three weeks before he is back -- maybe the Sunderland game.
"It was a bad injury. The tendon got a bad tear. It wasn't a pull in the belly of the muscle, it was a tear right on the tendon, really high up."
Oviedo, signed by Martinez's predecessor David Moyes from FC Copenhagen in August 2012, has had a frustrating time with injuries over the last two seasons.
He missed last year's World Cup in Brazil after breaking his leg during Everton's FA Cup fourth-round win at Stevenage in January 2014.
He made his comeback in a Capital One Cup defeat at Swansea the following September, but has made only two Premier League starts since then.
