Director General of Police (DGP)
Arvind Kumar Jain on Wednesday appeared before the
Allahabad High Court in connection with an alleged fake police encounter case and apprised the court about the action being taken against the accused policemen.
Taking the affidavit filed by DGP on record, Justice
Ramesh Sinha exempted the personal appearance of DGP on future dates. The court passed the above order on a bail application filed by police constable
Kripa Shankar Mishra.
Earlier, the court while hearing this bail application, had taken a serious note of the fact that the accused policemen in this alleged fake encounter case of Ballia district were not arrested and have been absconding despite several orders passed by the subordinate court.
At one stage, while taking a serious note of inaction on the part of investigative agency in not arresting accused policemen, the high court had directed the DGP to appear before the court to apprise it as to why action was not taken against the accused policemen.
As per the direction of the court, the DGP appeared before the court on Wednesday and filed an affidavit informing that one accused
policeman in the alleged fake encounter case has been arrested even after his retirement from service. He narrated how the order of the court has been complied with. He further requested the court to exempt his personal appearance in view of the fact that the order of the court has been complied with. He assured the court that all the orders passed by the court would be complied with.
Taking the submissions of DGP on record, the court exempted his personal appearance.
