In days when every drop of water counts, apathy of officials concerned has a small pipeline leakage going on for days and a continuous trickle of water getting wasted onto the roads.

Few paces ahead of the BHEL main gate and between Srinivasa Theatre and HDFC Bank branch at Ashoknagar, a small pit of sorts has formed with a steady oozing of water from the pipeline.

Last two weeks

According to the locals, the water has been flowing out for last couple of weeks and despite being brought to the notice of authorities concerned, no action has been taken so far to plug it.

Alacrity needed

Authorities might be taking immediate action in case of major leakage but same alacrity was called for smaller pipeline leakages such as these, said Rajeswar Rao, a local businessman.

“It might have been small leakage but imagine the kind of precious Manjeera water that has been lost in last ten days or so,” he said.

An auto-driver was seen using the water from pipeline to give his vehicle a thorough wash.

“Local auto drivers are coming here to use this water to wash vehicles. Some utility we are making,” he said.
